Blue Relation
14.10.2017 – 08.04.2018
The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue with texts in English and German by Frank Duffner and Susanne Ließegang as well as images by Nikolaus Koliusis.
The color blue evokes a variety of reactions. It has a calming, balancing, but also cool effect. We associate blue with sky and sea, with vastness, distance and longing. For the light artist Nikolaus Koliusis (*1953), whose work is determined by the color blue, it is both a romantic, a poetic and an abstract color. The title not only refers to this richrelationship of the real color blue to imaginary concepts, it refers on the one hand to Koliusis’ last year’s presentation Blau (Blue) in the Museum DKM, on the other hand to his long-standing relationship with the museum founders Dirk Krämer and Klaus Maas..
