Large-format mobile, coloured, molten tape, burnt wood or a wall clad in azure plastic – the sculptor Gereon Krebber put his positively disturbing sculptures and installations on the entire temporary exhibition area of the Museum DKM into the spotlight. The exhibition questioned Krebber’s exemplary works, which had been created in recent years. Is there a central idea behind it? The contrasts in form, appearance and surface get pictorial unity and meaningful form, but they can hardly be dissolved conceptually, descriptions fall back into the pre-linguistic.

Already with the title antagomorph Krebber asked more questions than to give answers. The artist’s demanding word-making related to the ubiquitous contrast of form and material, which represented the common denominator of the works on display. Exemplified groups of works from the last five years have been juxtaposed in the seven rooms of the almost 500 square metre temporary exhibition space.

On occasion of the exhibitions at Museum DKM and the Folkwang Museum Essen, a joint catalogue was published at Kerber Verlag, which documents Krebber’s works of the previous five years.

The catalogue was made possible thanks to the generous support of the
